Some of our performances are suitable for children. While others are still too long or too difficult for children to grasp. But this should not stop the adults and children going to the theatre together. While the adults enjoy a show on the Grosse Bühne, their grandchildren, nieces, nephews and little ones have a good time in our free workshop for children. We take a look behind the scenes. We solve a paper chase, have a sneak peek around the building from top to bottom and discover lots about theatre. Snacks and refreshments are also available.

With support from and on the initiative of Theaterverein Basel.

Holiday workshops

For all those of you staying in Basel during the the autumn and carnival holidays, there are also holiday workshops for children aged 6 to 11. From Monday to Friday, teachers from various Basel cultural institutions will each organise one day with the youngsters. Sometimes we go to the theatre, meet an orchestra or visit a museum. At the end of the week, you can rightly call yourself a cultural adventurer. Maximum of 15 children per workshop. Cultural and craft materials as well as lunch are included in the course fee.

  • Autumn holiday workshop: 5 to 9 October 2020
  • Carnival holiday workshop: 15 to 19 February 2021
  • Time: 9 am – 5 pm
  • Fees: CHF 150
