A play about the worry that the party is happening somewhere else
What to do when everything is constantly cheering you on? Boom. What to do when you hear the muffled bass but have no idea where it's coming from? Boom, boom. Is life a big party that you can't find the entrance to? Boom, boom, boom. How long are you going to keep looking in this cold and deserted industrial estate? And are all the enthusiastic and happy people really there or are they just ghosts in your head? After the success of ‹Streit›, Dutch director Jetse Batelaan returns to Theater Basel. This time he is developing an absurd, comic and philosophical play with the Basler Compagnie about the fear of missing out.
A co-production with the Artemis Theatre
Together with the dramaturgy department, the Basel Kulturhaus Bider & Tanner has been curating the book table for our plays for many years. Now this selection of books, CDs, DVDs, catalogues and sheet music is available at any time in the online shop. It's worth browsing regularly.

Partycrew
A highly charming trio.
Nothing happens, but it happens in a decidedly virtuoso way. The theater play itself becomes the antithesis of mere consumption and stands for the attempt to try something out.
The strictest door in Basel: Jetse Batelaan and his ensemble promise the hottest party in town. But if you want to be there, you'll have to be patient - on an evening about aspiration, disappointment and the great wait in between.
‹Es wär so schade wenn du das verpasst› is captivating and entertaining. The piece captures the whole range of a party night - from euphoria to an exhausting endless loop.
Dutch director Jetse Batelaan - best remembered in Basel for his production ‹Streit› - has developed ‹Es wär so schade wenn du das verpasst› with his Dutch crew and the actors from scratch using improvisation. Visually and aesthetically, this is a convincing evening.
