Yanna Rüger, born in Tübingen in 1986, studied acting in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes at the Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK. In the 12/13 season, she was part of the acting studio at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. From 2013 to 2016, Yanna Rüger was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Neumarkt Theatre in Zurich during the directorship of Peter Kastenmüller and Ralf Fiedler. Since summer 2016, Yanna Rüger has been working as a freelance actress, curator, director and on her own projects. She is the initiator and artistic director of the collective ‹Infinite Cooperation› and realised ‹Chronik der Zukunft› (concept, direction and play 2018) and ‹Über Wunden› (director 2022) in this context. From 2018 to 2020, Yanna Rüger co-directed and curated the Zentral Bühnen at Zürcher Theater Spektakel. As an actress, she appeared in the film ‹Nachtkatzen› (2022) by Valentin Merz. Since summer 2020, she has been working as artistic co-director at Theater HORA - Stiftung Zueriwerk. Here she created the feature film ‹Planet Hora› (co-directed 2020) and the performance + film ‹Schule der Liebenden› (co-directed 2023). Yanna Rüger is also a certified teacher of the Feldenkrais method. In the 25/26 season at Theater Basel, she is co-dramaturge for the production ‹Gesellschaft mit besonderer Hingabe (GmbH)›, staged by director Christoph Marthaler in collaboration with Theater HORA.
