Lighting design
Originally a photographer, Udo Haberland began working as a lighting designer in 1988 for film and television productions as well as for the State Theatre in Stuttgart. As a freelance lighting designer and lighting master, he received commissions for ballet, dance, opera and theatre in Europe, the USA and Australia and worked for many years for festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna Festival and the Ludwigsburg Festival. In the event sector, he has created the lighting design for Hugo BOSS, Formula 1 and Strenesse, among others. In the field of film and TV advertising, he has worked for Arte, MTV & VIVA, ARD, ZDF & NDR, Deutsche Telekom, Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota, Kodak and many more. At the Stuttgart Ballet, Udo Haberland developed the lighting design for all of Marco Goecke's creations. He also conceived the lighting design for the works Marco Goecke created for the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, Nederlands Dans Theater, Staatsballett Berlin, Norwegian National Ballet Oslo, Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg and Staatsballett Hannover. Udo Haberland is also creating the lighting design for the Swiss premiere of ‹Der Liebhaber› (world premiere 2021, Staatsballett Hannover).
