Dancer
Simea Cavelti is a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. With a constantly evolving practice based on movement, curiosity and deep engagement with the world and people, Simea pushes the boundaries of dance as a means of connection, introspection, discovery and confrontation. Since completing her Bachelor's degree (2014) at London Contemporary Dance School, she has collaborated with various artists such as Fabrice Mazliah, Simon McBurney, Samar Haddad King, Declan Whitaker, Omar Ghayatt, Johanna Heusser, Lena Schattenberg, Bassam Abou Diab and Fritz Hauser. Simea has been living and working in Switzerland and Lebanon since 2015, where she also develops her own projects. Her choreographic works have been shown in numerous theatres and festivals in Switzerland, in off spaces nationally and internationally, the Kunstmuseum Thun, Sursock Museum Beirut and Beirut Art Center. Simea is an Associated Artist 25/26 of Tanzplan Ost and is currently developing her project ‹FELT RELATIONS›, a stage play in collaboration with the visual artist Adrian Pepe. She will be on stage at Theater Basel in the 25/26 season as a performer in ‹Die Zauberflöte›.
