Sarah-Katharina Karl works as a stage designer, costume designer and architect. After studying architecture at Leibniz Universität Hannover and TU Delft (Netherlands), she worked as an assistant stage designer at Staatsoper Hannover from 2010 to 2013. This was followed by success as a set designer at Theater Basel, Staatsoper Hannover, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Volksoper Wien, plus many other places. For Rossini's ‹Barbier von Sevilla› at Oper Dortmund, she was named Stage Designer of the Year a total of three times by the international opera magazine, Opernwelt. And for the production of ‹Aus Tradition Anders› at Staatstheater Darmstadt, she was awarded the German Musical Theatre Prize for best stage design. The production of ‹Ariadne auf Naxos› at Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, which used Sarah's stage design to full effect, earned director Martin G. Berger the prestigious German Theatre Prize ‹Der Faust›. As an architect, she has designed several buildings constructed by gruppeomp Architekten in Hanover.
