Rodrigo
Born in Mexico City, tenor Rodrigo Porras Garulo studied singing at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. He was a member of the Meiningen State Theatre ensemble from 2010 to 2015 and the Karlsruhe State Theatre from 2017 to 2020. He was nominated "Singer of the Year" by Opernwelt magazine for his interpretation of Calaf in 'Turandot' there. He is also a prizewinner of the International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition and a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Society in Würzburg. In 2019, he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as the Duke in 'Rigoletto'. Further engagements have taken him, among others the Cologne Opera ('Luisa Miller'), De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam (Prince in 'Rusalka'), the Frankfurt Opera (Tristan in 'Le vin herbé' and Pinkerton in 'Madama Butterfly'), the Glyndebourne Festival (Mark in Melly Still's 'The Wreckers'), the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (title role in 'Don Carlo' and Don José in 'Carmen') and the Landestheater Linz (Rodolfo in 'La bohème') as well as the Leipzig Opera, the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, the Ljubljana Festival, the Latvian National Opera, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and the Astana Opera. He recently made two house debuts as Pinkerton at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and as Calaf at the Hamburg State Opera.
