Olesya Golovneva completed her studies in St. Petersburg and Vienna with honours. She is a prizewinner of the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition and the International Vocal Competition's – Hertogenbosch. Her portrayals of Anna Bolena and Luisa Miller earned her the title of «Best Singer of the Year»; in 2019, she was nominated for the German Theatre Prize «Der Faust» for the title role in ‹Rusalka›. Past highlights include her acclaimed role debut as Katia Kabanova at the Hamburg State Opera, Valentine alongside Juan Diego Flórez in Meyerbeer's ‹Les Huguenots› at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, her house debut as Rusalka at the Teatro Real Madrid, her directorial debut with this opera at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden and her debut in the major soprano roles of Puccini's ‹Trittico›, also in Wiesbaden. Further engagements have taken her to the Frankfurt Opera, the Finnish National Opera, the Cologne Opera, the Malmö Opera, the Opéra de Marseille and the Zurich Opera House, among others. The artist has special ties to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she has sung Maria Stuarda, Gilda, Donna Anna and Violetta in ‹La traviata›. She has also sung the latter role in Dresden, Munich, Prague, at the Wiesbaden May Festival, in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn and Antibes. Her most recent concert appearances include Rachmaninov's ‹Die Glocken› at the Konzerthaus Dortmund and Schubert's Mass in E flat major at the Vienna Musikverein. She is singing the role of Turandot at Theater Basel in the 24/25 season.
