Baritone
The baritone Nathan Schludecker was born in Terre Haute, Indiana (USA). He initially studied at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and has been continuing his training at the renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia for the past two years. He has gained experience in numerous programmes, including Opera in the Ozarks, the Chautauqua Institute, the International Summer Opera Festival in Morelia and most recently the Manetti Shrem opera programme at the Festival of Napa Valley in California. Under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, he sang Faninal in Strauss' ‹Der Rosenkavalier› and the Steuermann in Wagner's ‹Tristan und Isolde› with the Philadelphia Orchestra. His roles include Papageno in Mozart's ‹Die Zauberflöte› and Gianni Schicchi, Le Directeur in Poulenc's ‹Les Mamelles de Tirésias›, the Forester in Janáček's ‹Das schlaue Füchslein›, the Count in ‹Le nozze di Figaro› and Maximilian in Bernstein's ‹Candide›. At Opera in the Ozarks, he appeared as Giorgio Germont in Verdi's ‹La traviata› and as John Proctor in Ward's ‹The Crucible›. At the Napa Valley Festival he interpreted scenes as Silvio in ‹Pagliacci›, Rigoletto, Marcello in ‹La bohème› and Harlequin in ‹Ariadne auf Naxos›. From the 25/26 season, he will be a member of the OperAvenir opera studio at Theater Basel.
