Martin
Martin Hug grew up in the Zurich Oberland. He received his training at the Zurich Acting Academy. This was followed by engagements in Wilhelmshaven, Wuppertal, Berlin, Zurich, Bern and Lucerne. Martin Hug has been a member of the Theater Basel ensemble since the 01/02 season. He has worked with directors such as Herbert Wernicke, Stefan Bachmann, Barbara Frey, Thom Lutz, Sebastian Nübling, Elias Perrig, Rafael Sanchez, Anna Viebrock, Peter Zadek, Ruedi Häusermann and Calixto Bieito. Other works have included Jeremias Gotthelf's 'Die schwarze Spinne' (director: Tilmann Köhler), 'Inferno' based on Dante's 'Divine Comedy', Georg Büchner's 'Leonce und Lena' and the walk-in installation 'Radio Requiem' by Thom Luz, Henry Purcell's/Ewald Palmetshofer's semi-opera 'König Arthur' and the musical 'Ein Käfig voller Narren' (director: Martin G. Berger). In the 19/20 season, he appeared in the production 'Der Gehülfe', by Robert Walser and 'Das Grosse Heft', by Agota Kristof. Martin Hug also works regularly for TV and film productions, including 'How About Love', 'Finsteres Glück', 'Der Kreis' and 'Zwingli' (directed by Stefan Haupt), 'Der Verdingbub' and 'Am Hang' (directed by Markus Imboden), as well as several appearances in the crime series 'Tatort'. He can soon be seen in the six-part SRF television series 'Frieden', directed by Michael Schaerer.
