The Swiss mezzo-soprano Marie-Claude Chappuis has already been nominated twice for the Grammy Award as well as for the Swiss Music Award and the Midem Classical Prize. She has worked with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding, Emmanuelle Haïm, René Jacobs, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Jonathan Nott and Christophe Rousset as well as with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Giardino Armonico, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic, among others. Milestones in her operatic career include roles such as Idamante ('Idomeneo'), staged and conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Graz and Zurich, Contessa (Paisiello's 'Il matrimonio inaspettato') under Riccardo Muti at the Salzburg Festival, Marguerite ('La damnation de Faust') under Sir Roger Norrington in Leipzig and Ottavia ('L'incoronazione di Poppea') at the Berlin State Opera and La Monnaie in Brussels. Chappuis was acclaimed throughout Europe for her performances of the title role in Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas'. She has performed at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Theater an der Wien, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Grand Théâtre de Genève, among others. Her extensive discography includes several recordings with René Jacobs and the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik and the RIAS Kammerchor. The album 'Les Fables de La Fontaine' was released in 2022.
