Steinmetz Dancer

Originally from Luxembourg, Louis Steinmetz received his dance training at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and at the ESDCM Rosella Hightower in Cannes. From 2015 to 2018, he studied contemporary dance at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. In 2015 and 2016, he intensified his training by taking part in the Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive. During the 17/18 season, Louis Steinmetz completed an internship at Tanz Luzerner Theater under the artistic direction of Kathleen McNurney, who subsequently engaged him in the ensemble. In 19/20, he joined the Staatsballett Hannover (Marco Goecke / Christian Blossfeld) for two seasons. Throughout his career, he has performed repertoire as well as world premieres by Marco Goecke, Goyo Montero, Medhi Walerski, Johan Inger, Paul Lightfoot & Sol Léon, Jiří Kylián, Mauro Bigonzetti, Andonis Foniadakis, Jeroen Verbruggen, Juliano Nunes, Francisco Baños Diaz, Nadav Zelner, Hans van Manen, Marcos Morau, Georg Reischl, Po-Cheng Tsai, Cayetano Soto, Fernando Hernando Magadan and Jo Strømgren. He has participated in numerous international galas with a varied repertoire. Louis Steinmetz has been a member of the ensemble at Ballett Basel under the artistic direction of Marco Goecke since summer 2025.
