Laura
Laura Hopkins was a finalist for the Linbury Prize in 1991 and has since worked as a costume and set designer for numerous major international spoken and musical theaters. Her work on devised productions, installation and art events has been seen at the Barbican, Tate Britain, the ICA, in tents, container lorries, swimming pools and as a working fairground ride. She also designs for more mainstream theatre, opera and dance, including the Old Vic, Royal Court, the National Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange, Leeds Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe, the RSC, London Palladium, Sadler’s Wells, ENO, Opera North, Houston grand opera and the New York Met. Laura Hopkins is an associate artist with experimental companies ‹Imitating the Dog and Duckie›, purveyors of working class entertainment. She is currently developing her own politically engaged performance project ‹Down Girl›, and designing a new musical for London's West End.
