Laura García Aguilera was born in Málaga and graduated from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona in 2010. She has worked with renowned Spanish companies such as Kor'sia, Antonio Ruz, La Veronal, Cienfuegos, La Fura dels Baus and Andrés Marín as well as at numerous international institutions, including the Stadttheater Bern, the Theater St. Gallen, the Irish National Opera, the Beacon Art Centre in Glasgow, the Neue Oper Fribourg and the Korea National Opera. Her path has also led her to collaborate with various independent structures such as Opinion Public, Panorama Dance Theatre and Antipode Danse Tanz, as well as with choreographers and directors such as Joshua Monten, Julien Chavaz, Tabea Martín, Mónica García Vicente, Chris Jaëger and Julia Maria Koch. As a performer, movement director, choreographic assistant and dance teacher, she combines her Andalusian roots with a constantly evolving contemporary movement language. ‹El barberillo de Lavapiés› is her first engagement at Theater Basel.
