Katrin Lea
Katrin Lea Tag was born in Berlin and studied stage design with Erich Wonder and painting and graphics with Renée Green at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 1997 she won first prize at the Ring Award International Competition. This was followed by assistantships with Katrin Brack and Dimiter Gotscheff, for whose production of Ivanov at the Volksbühne Berlin she designed the costumes in 2005 and for which an invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2006 followed. She works with the directors Christof Loy, Tatjana Gürbaca and Christiane Pohle. Since 2006 she has worked regularly with Michael Thalheimer (costumes for 'Rose Bernd' at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, 'Die Fledermaus' and 'Die Nibelungen' at the Deutsches Theater Berlin) and Barrie Kosky (stage and costumes for 'Carmen' and 'Salome' at the Frankfurt Opera, 'Aus einem Totenhaus' at the Hanover State Opera, 'Castor et Pollux' at the English National Opera in London, 'Les Boréades' at the Opéra Dijon). In 2020, she was named stage designer of the year by Opernwelt magazine for 'The Bassarids' by Henze. At Theater Basel, she is designing the costumes for 'Das Rheingold' and 'Die Walküre' in the 23/24 season.
