Julie L. Bjelke, born in Norway, will be an apprentice with Ballet Basel in the 25/26 season. She has been studying at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) since 2022, where she is completing her professional studies. During her studies, she has worked with choreographers and showed works by Guro Nagelhus Schia, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Sharon Eyal, Hofesh Shechter, Sasha Waltz among others. With the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, she appeared in Philip Glass' opera ‹Statyágraha› in 2024 and in Zsuzsa Rózsavölgyi's choreography ‹Meduse›, which was performed in Norway and Budapest. Julie L. Bjelke has taken part in various repertoire courses at Summer Intensives, including choreographies by Emanuel Gat, Peeping Tom, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Jiří Kylián. She has already shown her own pieces at various art festivals in Denmark and at the Norwegian National Museum.
