Sitkovetsky
Julia Sitkovetsky was born in London and made her debut at the age of 16 as Flora in Britten's ‹The Turn of the Screw› at Glyndebourne and at English National Opera. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was a member of the English National Opera's young talent programme in the 14/15 season. She was a grand finalist at the Paris Opéra Competition, won a special prize at the Clermont Ferrand International Competition in 2017 and was a finalist for the Susan Chilcott Award the following year. Her repertoire includes roles such as the Queen of the Night ‹Die Zauberflöte›, Emilia ‹Catone in Utica›, Mimì ‹La bohème›, the title role in ‹Alcina›, Gilda ‹Rigoletto› and The Sun/The Princess/The Nightingale ‹L’enfant et les sortilèges›. Guest appearances have taken her to Scottish Opera, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Semperoper Dresden, among others. She recently sang Marie in ‹La fille du régiment›, made her debuts at the Hamburg State Opera and Welsh National Opera and released CD recordings of works by Rachmaninov and Elgar. In summer 2025, she will sing Mumtaz Mahal in the world premiere of Nishat Khan's ‹Taj Mahal› at Grange Park Opera. After appearances in Dresden and Leipzig, she will sing the role of the Queen of the Night in the 25/26 season at Theater Basel.
