The Argentinian-Spanish-American tenor José Simerilla Romero studied at Valencia College and Stetson University in Florida and has won prizes at several international competitions. Engagements have already taken him to the Nederlandse Reisopera as Rodolfo in ‹La bohème› and Alfredo in '‹La traviata›', to First Coast Opera as Alfredo, to Opera Zuid as Nemorino in ‹L'elisir d'amore›, to Florida Grand Opera and Opera Naples as Duca di Mantova in ‹Rigoletto› and to the Vienna Summer Music Festival as Rodolfo. His other repertoire includes the roles of Tamino in 'Die ‹Die Zauberflöte›, Pinkerton in ‹Madama Butterfly›, Albert in ‹Albert Herring›, Ottone in ‹L'incoronazione di Poppea›, Edgardo in ‹Lucia di Lammermoor›, Kaspar in ‹Amahl und die nächtlichen Besucher› and Danilo in ‹Die lustige Witwe›. José Simerilla has been a member of the ensemble at the Hanover State Opera since the 22/23 season and has appeared there as Rodolfo, Chevalier de la Force ‹Dialogues des Carmélites›, Tsarevich Gwidon ‹Das Märchen vom Zaren Saltan› and Vladimir Lensky ‹Jewgeni Onegin›, among others. He recently sang Laërte in Ambroise Thomas' ‹Hamlet› at the Komische Oper Berlin and Alfredo at the English National Opera.
