Jana Furrer

Jana Furrer works as a stage and costume designer. She studied interior design, specialising in scenography, at the Basel School of Art and Design, with a guest semester at the Weissensee School of Art in Berlin. She then worked as an assistant at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Theater Basel. She is a founding member of 'rat' (2019), a collective for theatre, video and performance. In 2020, she founded the collective 'hexen flexen' (2020) with director and author Louisa Raspé.
She designed the stage set for the world premiere of Michelle Steinbeck's 'The Best of Times' (2022) at Theater Basel. Since then, she has worked closely with director Franz Broich, including on 'Erpresso Macchiato' (2023) and currently on 'Die Schneekönigin' (2024).
She is working as a costume and set designer with director Patricija Katica Bronić at the Junges Theater Mannheim in 2025. Jana is part of the one-year LAB residency programme at Kaserne Basel in the 24/25 season. There, she is focussing on an anti-speciesist view of urban planning from below.
