Iván Amaya was born in Cádiz. He trained at the Conservatorio Professional de Danza de Cádiz and the Centro Andaluz de Danza. His career has led him to collaborate with choreographers and dance companies, including La Lupi, Olga Pericet, Cienfuegos Danza, María Rovira, and Flamencos en route. He has performed on numerous prestigious stages, including the lead role of Juan Ramírez de Lucas at Carnegie Hall in New York. In addition to his work as a dancer, Iván Amaya also choreographs for renowned companies such as the Compañía Nacional de Danza de El Salvador, as well as for interdisciplinary projects that combine dance with other art forms. He has received numerous awards for his artistic work, including Best Contemporary Dancer at the IV Premios Lorca del Teatro Andaluz and nominations at the XXIII Premios Max and the Premios Escenarios de Sevilla 2024. This season, he can be seen for the first time at Theater Basel in ‹El barberillo de Lavapiés›.
