Hélio Vida was born in Patos de Minas, Brazil. He has been the director of the OperAvenir opera studio at Theater Basel since the 2020/21 season. His conducting engagements here include ‹Der Barbier von Sevilla›, ‹Mignon›, ‹Carmen› and ‹Das schlaue Füchslein›. He performs regularly as a pianist in recitals and chamber concerts, notably at the Wigmore Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Amphithéâtre of the Opéra Bastille, Les Grands Interprètes in Toulouse, the Beirut Chants Festival, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, the Opéra de Lille and numerous other festivals with Benjamin Bernheim, Huw Montague Rendall, Julie Fuchs, Bruno de Sà, Adriana Gonzalez and others.He has been the Artistic Director of the Festival Classique Albâtre in Normandy since 2018. He was a pianist and répétiteur at Graz Opera, a member of the opera studio at Zurich Opera and works as a guest at the Opéra de Rouen, the LAC Lugano and the vocal competition for Wagner voices in Bayreuth. Hélio Vida first studied in Brazil and at the Nancy Conservatory and completed his studies at the Karlsruhe University of Music. He has taken part in numerous training courses and masterclasses in song accompaniment and accompaniment and was awarded first prize at the 23rd Claudio Arrau International Piano Competition in Chile and the special prize for piano accompaniment at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Singing Competition in Berlin. He is also a HSBC prizewinner at the Académie du Festival in Aix-en-Provence.
