Hélio Vida was born in Patos de Minas, Brazil. He began his studies in his home country and in Nancy and completed them in Karlsruhe. He has taken part in numerous training courses and master classes on song accompaniment and accompaniment, won first prize at the 23rd Claudio Arrau International Piano Competition in Chile and the special prize for piano accompaniment at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Singing Competition in Berlin and is an HSBC prizewinner at the Académie du Festival in Aix-en-Provence. He performs regularly as a pianist in recitals, notably at the Wigmore Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, the Opéra de Lille, the Amphithéâtre of the Opéra Bastille, at Les Grands Interprètes in Toulouse, at the Beirut Chants Festival and at numerous other festivals with Benjamin Bernheim, Huw Montague Rendall, Mané Galoyan, Julie Fuchs, Bruno de Sá, Adriana Gonzalez and others. He has been the artistic director of the Festival Classique Albâtre in Normandy since 2018. He was a pianist and accompanist at the Graz Opera, a member of the opera studio at the Zurich Opera House and works as a guest at the Opéra de Rouen, Opéra de Toulon, the LAC Lugano and at the singing competition for Wagner voices in Bayreuth. Since the 20/21 season, Hélio Vida has been head of the opera studio OperAvenir at Theater Basel. His conducting credits here include ‹Der Barbier von Sevilla›, ‹Mignon›, ‹Carmen› and ‹Das schlaue Füchslein›.
