Giulia Torri is a dancer. She was born in Italy and began her training at the Centro Studi Danza in Pesaro, where she obtained her ballet diploma according to the R.A.D. method at the age of 18. In 2006, she graduated from the socio-psycho-pedagogical high school and then went to the Codarts Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands for four years, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2010. During her studies and in various projects, she worked with choreographers such as Jack Gallagher, Georg Reischl and Katarzyna Sitarz as well as with smaller ballet companies. She has collaborated with visual artists and taken part in site-specific projects, including performances with Cirque du Soleil in four major European cities. As part of the Mediterraneo Dance Festival, she received a scholarship for an exchange programme in New York. Since 2012, she has been working freelance in Italy and Germany on various projects, including video dance productions. She then joined the Delattre Dance Company Mainz and subsequently the Staatstheater Mainz-Tanzmainz, where she worked with various choreographers for three seasons and developed her own pieces. In her last year at Tanzmainz at the Staatstheater Mainz, the choreography ‹FALL 7 TIMES› by Maria Campos and Guy Nader won the Faust Prize 2017. In 2018 she returned as a freelance choreographer and worked on the opera Turandot directed by Stefano Poda at the Teatro Regio in Turin. She recently joined Ballett Basel under the direction of Adolphe Binder and Tillman O'Donnell.
