Gianni
Blumer
Actor
Gianni Blumer, born in 1989, has been working at Theater HORA since 2008. He is an actor, director, choreographer and flute and panpipe player: a highly charming, headstrong, imaginative and self-confident artist with a clear idea of what he wants to do and what he doesn't want to do - and «what he wants, he pulls off», says his colleague Matthias Brücker about him. He creates his roles autonomously with his very own signature, minimalistically and authentically. He immerses himself in the scenes and situations he plays, acting as a shadow director when necessary. He enjoys listening to Italian music as a warm-up. His work as a director as part of the long-term project ‹Freie Republik Hora› was mostly opulent re-enactments of blockbuster films, each of whose heroines he was in love with. In 2024, he co-directed ‹Leonce und Lena – HORA total› together with Nele Jahnke. He thinks he is at his best as a dancer, dreams of being a crazy version of Brad Pitt on stage and specialises in applause. «For example, when they shout Gianni, Gianni, Gianni and stand up and clap. Or when they call for an encore - I'm happy to accept all that. And then I hand out autographs.» In the 25/26 season, he will be on stage for the first time at Theater Basel in ‹Gesellschaft mit besonderer Hingabe (GmbH)› by director Christoph Marthaler.
