Elio Matteo Staub was born in Thun in 2000 and grew up there. He has been working as a freelance actor since completing his Bachelor's degree in Physical Theatre at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in 2024. During his studies, he developed his own style of expression on stage by combining theatre and dance. He broadened his horizons at the TicTac Art Centre in Brussels. After graduating, he performed at the Kunsthaus Zurich as part of the Marina Abramović exhibition. His solo performance ‹IN OTHER WORDS› was presented at various festivals in Switzerland. His next project will take him to Italy, where he will collaborate with TeatroDistinto and premiere in Milan. Together with Julio Yanes, he founded the physical theatre company TerraTulia. They performed their first collaboration in Venice in 2022 under the title ‹Surrounded by Ghosts, Surrounded by Angels›. For their project ‹museo›, an installation performance on the theme of vulnerability, they received funding from Sparx Migros Culture Percentage. In the 24/25 season, Elio Staub is part of the ‹Turandot› production at Theater Basel as a guest artist.
