Eduardo Strausser comes from São Paulo and studied conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts. During this time, he worked closely with composers of contemporary music such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Kurtág and Brian Ferneyhough. He also took part in masterclasses with Bernard Haitink, David Zinman and Kurt Masur. He has developed a broad repertoire as an opera conductor, including as resident conductor at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, where he conducted Wagner's ‹Lohengrin› with great success. He also conducted performances of Strauss' ‹Elektra›, Gomes' ‹Fosca›, Tchaikovsky's ‹Nussknacker› and Puccini's ‹La bohème› there. Further conducting engagements have taken him to the Meininger Hofkapelle as well as the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Verdi di Padova and the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo. Since the 24/25 season, he has been Principal Guest Conductor and Music Director of the Swedish NorrlandsOperan, where he recently conducted the world premiere of ‹Älskarinnorna› by Jenny Wilson. He has conducted concerts with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre de Montpellier. He is also currently making his debut with the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, San Diego Symphony and the Pacific Symphony. Further engagements in the USA include performances with the symphony orchestras of Kansas City, Utah, North Carolina, Detroit and Indianapolis. Eduardo Strausser will conduct ‹Don Quichotte› at the Theater Basel in the 25/26 season.
