Stage design

Christoph Rufer studied set design at the Zurich University of the Arts from 2002 to 2006. From 2005 to 2009 he worked as an assistant set designer at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin and then at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg until 2011. Since 2011, he has worked as a freelance set and costume designer, collaborating with artists such as Lars Eidinger, Schorsch Kamerun, Johannes v. Matuschka, Anne Habermehl and Antje Schupp. He has a long-standing collaboration with director Alia Luque. In 2017 their production die hockenden at the Burgtheater Wien was invited by Miroslava Svolikova to the Berliner Autorentheatertage. ‹europa flieht nach Europa› is Christoph Rufer's first work at the STAATSTHEATER KARLSRUHE. As a member of the ACE trio, Christoph Rufer created the stage design for the production ‹1984› at Theater Basel.
