Chisato Ide, originally from Japan, first started her training when she was five years old. This led her, among others, to the Arts Umbrella Dance Company in Canada under the artistic direction of Artemis Gordon. She finally topped off her degree with a Summer Intensive at the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT). She gained stage experience with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company before joining Ballet BC under the artistic direction of Emily Molnar in 2011 to 2012. From 2013 to 2019, she danced with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Gradimir Pankov, Ivan Cavallari), from 2019 to 2022 with the Nuremberg Ballet under the direction of Goyo Montero, and from 2022 to 2025 with the Hanover State Ballet (Marco Goecke/Christian Blossfeld). She has danced both neoclassical and contemporary repertoire in pieces by Mats Ek, Stephan Thoss, Jiří Kylián, Christian Spuck, Marcos Morau, Ohad Naharin, Edward Clug, Jean-Christophe Maillot and Marco Goecke, among others. Chisato Ide has been a company member of Ballet Basel since summer 2025.
