Dethleffsen

Bendix Dethleffsen, born in Flensburg in 1978, studied conducting at the Cologne University of Music. During his studies, he worked as an assistant to Ingo Metzmacher at the Hamburg State Opera and conducted Luigi Nono's 'Prometeo - Tragedia dell'ascolto' with him (Ensemble Modern Orchestra, Lucerne Festival 2001). He also conducted several productions in the 'Junges Forum Musiktheater' series in Hamburg. From 2001-2006, Bendix Dethleffsen was engaged as solo repetiteur and Kapellmeister at the Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen, from 2007-2009 in the same function at the Staatstheater Kassel. He has conducted numerous opera and ballet performances. Bendix Dethleffsen works at the interface between theatre and music and is a musical director, conductor, pianist and performer. This versatility brought him together with Christoph Marthaler in 2006, with whom he has worked closely ever since.
He has also worked for and with Johan Simons, Anna-Sophie Mahler, Christoph Homberger, Jan Czajkowski, René Pollesch, Christiane Pohle, Benedikt von Peter and Philipp Stölzl. This has taken him to the Théâtre Odéon in Paris, Münchner Kammerspiele, Theater Basel, Schauspiel Köln, NT Gent, Toneelgroep Maastricht, Theater Bremen, Volksbühne Berlin and Schauspielhaus Hamburg. He has also worked at the Teatro Real Madrid, the Staatsoper unter den Linden in Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and the Opéra National de Paris. Further work has taken him to the Ruhrtriennale, Wiener Festwochen and the Festival d'Avignon.
