The Austrian-New Zealand bass Anthony Robin Schneider was a member of the Frankfurt Opera ensemble from 2019 to 2024, where he sang the title role in Handel's ‹Herkules›, King Henry in ‹Lohengrin›, Bartolo in ‹Le nozze di Figaro›, Grand Inquisitor in ‹Don Carlos› and Sparafucile in ‹Rigoletto›, among others. From 2021 to 2024, he appeared in Brigitte Fassbaender's highly acclaimed production of Wagner's ‹Ring des Nibelungen› at the Tyrolean Festival, where he took on the roles of Fafner and Hunding. Other guest engagements have taken him to the Semperoper Dresden and Houston Grand Opera as Sarastro in ‹Die Zauberflöte›, to the National Opera Amsterdam as King Henry and to Baden-Baden and Berlin as the nurse of Orest in ‹Elektra› with the Berlin Philharmonic under Kirill Petrenko. Other roles include the Ghost of Hector in ‹Les Troyens› (Vienna State Opera) and Truffaldino in ‹Ariadne auf Naxos› (Santa Fe Opera). In concert, he has performed Mozart's ‹Requiem›, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Haydn's ‹Schöpfung›, Bruckner's ‹Te Deum› and Rossini's ‹Stabat Mater› and recently made his debut with Verdi's ‹Requiem› under the baton of Lorenzo Viotti at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In August 2025, he will make his Salzburg Festival debut in Péter Eötvös' ‹Tri Sestry› and will sing Sarastro in ‹Die Zauberflöte› at Theater Basel the following season.
