Annika Meier was born in Berlin in 1981. She studied acting at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre from 2002 to 2006. She then performed at the Lucerne Theatre, the Oberhausen Theatre and made guest appearances at the HAU Berlin. She also worked at the Dortmund Theatre, Thalia Theatre Hamburg and the Zurich Opera.
From 2012 to 2017, she worked mainly with a permanent group under the direction of Herbert Fritsch at the Volksbühne Berlin. In 2014, she went on air with her interview series ‹Zeitstövchen› on YouTube. In 2016, she co-founded the ‹HappyEndCompany›, whose production was performed at the Treibstoff Festival Basel and the Schlachthaus Bern.
From 2017 to 2019, she was engaged at the Berliner Ensemble and then made a guest appearance at the Berliner Schaubühne. The Volksbühne production ‹Murmel Murmel› can still be seen at Schauspielhaus Bochum. Annika Meier made her television debut in 2015 in ‹Tatortreiniger› and appeared in the feature film ‹Magical Mystery – die Rückkehr des Karl Schmidt›. She has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Basel since the 20/21 season.
