Alen Hodzovic completed his musical theatre training at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding in Munich and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 1999 he won the 1st prize at the German National Singing Competition in Berlin and in 2009 the 1st prize at the Lotte Lenya Singing Competition of the Kurt Weill Foundation in New York. While still a student, he made his debut as Colloredo in ‹Mozart!› at the Theater an der Wien. Engagements as an actor, singer and musical theatre performer have taken him all over the German-speaking world: he has played Raoul in ‹Das Phantom der Oper› (Stuttgart), Tony in ‹West Side Story› (Kassel, Osnabrück, Rostock, etc.), Cliff in ‹Cabaret› (Gelsenkirchen, Merzig, etc.), Marius in ‹Les Misérables› (Tecklenburg, Graz, etc.), Anthony in 'Sweeney' (Gelsenkirchen, Merzig, etc.) and many others.a.), Anthony in ‹Sweeney Todd› (Mainz), Baker in ‹Into the Woods› (Hagen), Oscar in ‹Sweet Charity› (Nuremberg), Seymour in ‹Der kleine Horrorladen› (Nuremberg), Jo in ‹Sugar› (Baden-Baden), Jack Seward in ‹Dracula› (St. Gallen) and Ferdinand in ‹Kabale und Liebe› (Muhr am See). He played Draco Malfoy in the German-language premiere of ‹Harry Potter und das verwunschene Kind› in Hamburg in 2021. He recently appeared in ‹Die Rache der Fledermaus› at the Komische Oper Berlin. He has also made TV, radio and concert appearances, including at the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau, the Brecht Festival in Augsburg, in the Cologne Philharmonie with the WDR Radio Orchestra and at the ‹Concert For Diana› at London's Wembley Stadium in Sir Elton John's backing choir.
