Poignant monologues and powerful songs combine to create a moving reflection on life, love, loss and the effects of the Aids crisis. The fates told here are as colourful and diverse as the people and life itself: some cheerful, others bitter, many life-affirming, others sad. Songs by bereaved families and survivors ranging from gospel, swing and ballad accompany the programme. The song cycle by Janet Hood (music) and Bill Russell (lyrics) was first performed in New York in 1989. The evening celebrates this year's fortieth anniversary of Aidshilfe Schweiz and also heralds the 40th anniversary of Aidshilfe beider Basel in 2026. To mark these occasions, the work will be a guest on the Small Stage on World Aids Day on 1 December. A celebration of life with a strong message of remembrance and solidarity.
