For four weeks, Ballett Basel transforms the foyer into a stage. 'Beziehungsweise' invites visitors to the theatre to experience the diversity of dance at the start of the season. We begin with a world premiere created and presented by the ballet ensemble. This will be followed by a duet evening dedicated to the theme of love by Nazareth Panadero & Co and toaspern|moeller. This will be followed by three works by our colleagues Oleg Stepanov, Jonathan Fredrickson and Tilman O'Donnell. The final event is a virtual ball in the form of the interactive virtual reality performance 'Le Bal de Paris' by award-winning choreographer Blanca Li, which can only be attended by 20 people at a time.

Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li
- Concept & Choreography: Blanca Li
- Performances: Wed 11.09. until Mon 23.09.2024
- Six performances per day: 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 (10 participants each)
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Admission: CHF 40
- VR headsets will be provided. Glasses and contact lenses can still be worn.
- We recommend clothing that does not cover wrists and ankles. Avoid high heels.
For a number of productions of 'Beziehungsweise - ein Tanzfestival', an audience discussion will be organised where the audience will have the opportunity to talk to the respective choreographers or dancers. These audience discussions will take place immediately after the performance on the following dates in the foyer of Theater Basel:

Liebe by the duo toaspern | moeller fuses dance and song into a poetic journey based on texts by Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux.
(Oleg Stepanov's) most recent multi-media piece, I can't be present due to travelling, has impactful features that not only engages the audience intimately, but also allows brings forth ideas about the fragilities and endangered outcomes that face humans in relation to post humans.
The summer café on Theaterplatz is open from 11:00 am until one hour after the performance. With cool drinks, lunch and snacks. A barbecue is available when the weather is fine.
