SACHER’s MUSICAL TREASURE TROVE
The Paul Sacher Stiftung in Basel is a real treasure trove: in their home on the Münsterplatz they house autographs, letter, notes, sketches and even costumes and props from more than a hundred leading composers and singers who have had a decisive influence on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. This season we will again unearth some musical treasures from this unique archive, spanning a broad arc from the idiosyncratic sound worlds of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů via the deeply spiritual works of the Russian composers Sofia Gubaidulina and Galina Ustvolskaya to the works of Swiss composers.
